Alice joined MARC in 2004 following several years litigating civil cases at a large New Jersey firm. Her past experience also includes the practice of aspects of healthcare law at a Washington DC firm and institution. Her areas of specialization include environmental, corporate transactional, general business and commercial litigation, and health care.
She received dual B.A.'s in English and Psychology, as well as the Phi Beta Kappa distinction, from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1998. In 2001, she earned her J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law. That same year, she also received a Masters in Public Health in Administrative Medicine and Health Policy from the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services.
Alice also has authored several articles, including: Shanahan, Permitting Justice: EPA's Revised Guidance for Investigating Title VI Administrative Complaints, 7 Environmental Law 403 (2001) and Azia & Shanahan, An Ounce of Prevention , Healthcare Industry Executive (October 2001), at 10. She also co-authored a manual to aid the Department of Justice in investigating allegations of Title VI violations by federally funded health care facilities.
